Where most roofers cut corners.

The RoofOps Installation Non-Negotiables.

There's one correct way to install a roof. These are the details that separate a real installation from a cosmetic one — and the reason RoofOps roofs outlast the warranty.

Why This Page Exists

Every Roofer Claims Manufacturer Spec. Almost None Deliver It.

Every roofer claims to install "to manufacturer spec." Almost none actually do. Cutting corners saves real money on every job — and most homeowners never know the difference until 8 or 12 years in, when the roof starts failing in ways the shingle warranty doesn't cover.

This page is a public record of what we install, how, and why. Read it. Compare to what other contractors tell you. Ask them to match it in writing.

Done right. Every shingle time.

The Eight Non-Negotiables

The Details That Determine Lifespan.

Non-Negotiable 01

STINGER® Cap Fastening for Synthetic Underlayment

Most contractors use staples or plastic button caps driven by hand. Both fail in high winds — and void most manufacturer warranties for wind-driven rain. We use STINGER® cap nails driven by pneumatic tool. Every time. Manufacturer-required. 180 mph wind rated.

Non-Negotiable 02

Cut-Mortar Chimney Flashing

#1 cause of chimney leaks isn't the chimney — it's the flashing. #1 cause of flashing failure is lazy installation. We cut new flashing into mortar joints. Not caulk over old flashing. Not surface-mount with sealant. Cut, set, seal, done.

Non-Negotiable 03

Ring-Shank Nails on 7/12 Pitch and Steeper

Smooth-shank nails back out under wind uplift. Documented engineering reality. Manufacturers specify ring-shank on steep pitches. Most contractors use whatever's cheapest in the gun. We use ring-shank nails on every pitch 7/12 or steeper. Full stop.

Non-Negotiable 04

Crickets on Chimneys 30" or Wider

IRC code requires a cricket (saddle) on any chimney 30 inches or wider on the uphill side. Nearly every older Lehigh Valley home with a chimney leak is missing one. We add crickets to every qualifying chimney. Code compliance isn't optional.

Non-Negotiable 05

Balanced Attic Ventilation

Most misunderstood part of roofing. Too little ventilation shortens shingle life. Too much pulls conditioned air out of the home. Mismatched systems destroy shingles in 10 years. We calculate intake and exhaust to manufacturer spec on every install.

Non-Negotiable 06

Ice and Water Shield at Every Required Location

Pennsylvania is climate zone 5. Ice dam risk is real. Code minimum extends 24 inches past the interior wall plane at every eave. We apply ice and water shield to every eave, valley, and penetration on every install.

Non-Negotiable 07

Proper Starter Course

Starter strips look simple. They're not. Miscut voids manufacturer wind warranty, creates lift points. We install manufacturer-matched starter strips at every eave and rake — cut to spec, fastened to spec, sealed to spec.

Non-Negotiable 08

Full Magnetic Sweep

Final day — full magnetic sweep of driveway, lawn, walkways, and the property perimeter. Non-negotiable. Every RoofOps job ends with a magnetic sweep — guaranteed. If we miss one, call us. We come back.
