Service before self.

Operation: Covered — One Free Roof. One Veteran. Every Year.

Every year, RoofOps installs one complete roof system at no cost for a Lehigh Valley veteran homeowner in need. Our way of giving back to the community that built this company.

Why We Do This

Veterans Come Home and Quietly Deal With It.

Veterans come home, build lives, raise families, and quietly deal with the same problems every homeowner deals with — including the one that can displace a family overnight: a failing roof.

A new roof is five figures. For a veteran on fixed income, disability pension, or caring for family, that investment is out of reach. Insurance doesn't cover wear-out. Programs that exist often aren't accessible to the people who need them.

Operation: Covered changes that. One complete roof system installed at no cost for one Lehigh Valley veteran homeowner every year.

Service before self. Integrity above all.

Selection

How the Decision Gets Made.

Applications are reviewed by a three-person panel: RoofOps leadership, a local veteran service organization representative, and an unaffiliated community member. Reviews are confidential. Decisions are based on severity of roof condition, demonstrated financial need, household circumstances, and community impact — not on application polish or presentation.

Common Questions

Operation: Covered Questions Answered.

Eligibility, timeline, and what happens after you apply.

Do I need to be a combat veteran to qualify?

No. Any honorably discharged U.S. military veteran qualifies. Branch, era, and combat status are not factors in eligibility.

Are surviving spouses of veterans eligible?

Yes. Surviving spouses of honorably discharged veterans are eligible to apply.

Is Operation: Covered only for full roof replacement?

Yes. The program is full roof replacement only. If you need repairs, call our regular service line at (835) 248-0004 — we offer discounted rates for veterans on repair work year-round.

Are there tax implications to accepting the roof?

The replacement may be treated as a charitable gift for tax purposes depending on individual circumstances. We recommend consulting with a tax professional before accepting the award.

What is the application deadline?

June 30 each year. Applications open April 1, close June 30. Selection is announced late July. Installation happens mid-to-late September.

Can community organizations nominate veterans?

Yes. VFW posts, American Legion posts, veteran service organizations, and community groups are welcome to nominate veterans. The nominated veteran still submits the formal application, but nominations help us identify candidates we might otherwise not reach.
